Bookings are now open for this year’s Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust annual conference which will be held in Glasgow, at the Radisson Blu Hotel from November 21 to 23.

The conference provides a platform for 22 Nuffield scholars to present their findings and recommendations from 18 months’ worth of global travel and research, with an aim of advancing the British farming industry.

The presenting scholars will cover an array of topics including reducing antibiotic usage in pigs and sustainable grazing strategies, to site-specific weed management and the use of hydroponics in agriculture.

The incoming cohort of 2019 scholars will be presented with their scholarship awards, followed by the annual dinner on Thursday, November 22.

Three special awards will also be presented:

  • The HSBC Silver Salver for the best-written report published by a 2016 Scholar;
  • The John Stewart Shield for the best presentation at this year’s conference;
  • The Steven and Gill Bullock Award which acknowledges the individual who has been most effective in using their scholarship to develop their business, innovate and contribute to the industry.

The event is not only an excellent opportunity to hear about the latest innovations and practices in agriculture, but also a chance for prospective candidates to network with scholars and members of the industry and gain a first-hand insight into the scholarship experience.

‘Early bird’ discounted ticket rates will be on offer until October 1, and the Radisson Blu Hotel is offering reduced room rates until September 19.

Places can be booked online or by calling the Nuffield office on: 01460-234012.
