The Fendt 832 Vario has achieved an average fuel consumption of just 235g/kWh of diesel while in the field, in the independent DLG PowerMix test.
It combined this with a score of 29g/kWh of AdBlue while in the field, which sets a new record for tractors up to 350ps tested in the DLG PowerMix test to date.
The 832 also fared well in terms of transport efficiency, achieving a best-in-class figure of 331g/kWh of diesel and 36g/kWh of AdBlue at 60km/h among large tractors with over 305ps.
The DLG (German Agricultural Society) introduced the PowerMix test in 2005 as a response to criticism of existing OECD tractor tests.
Criticism stemmed from the fact that the OECD tests measured tractors' features under fixed, stead conditions that many claimed did not accurately reflect farm work.
It was also believed that tractors were becoming optimised for lab tests, rather than real world application.
The DLG also wanted a way to compare tractor efficiency to inform farmers when buying tractors.
These factors combined led to the development of the PowerMix test, which uses 14 different test cycles that simulate typical agricultural jobs by combining:

The DLG PowerMix test is now in its 2.0 form, demonstrating the development that tractor testing is getting to ensure it's accurate and fair.
Fendt's vice-president of marketing, Roland Schmidt, has outlined the company's research-based approach to manufacturing tractors.
Schmidt said: "Achieving 235 g/kWh in the DLG PowerMix test is an absolute record and confirms the effectiveness of our development approach.
"With the Fendt 832 Vario, we are offering farmers and contractors a tractor that combines high performance with exceptional efficiency.
"With fuel prices rising, every litre saved counts, and this is precisely where the Fendt 832 Vario sets new standards," Schmidt said.
The Fendt 826 Vario also achieved noteworthy scores in the DLG PowerMix test, clocking in at 239g/kWh of diesel and 29g/kWh of AdBlue.
According to Schmidt, "the results for the Fendt 826 Vario show that efficiency is not just a feature of the top-of-the-range model, but applies to the entire series".
The Fendt 832 Vario is powered by a six-cylinder engine developed by AGCO Power.
The 7.9L CORE80 engine (which was awarded the 'Diesel of the Year 2026 Award') delivers a maximum power output of 342PS (252kW).
On the DLG test bench, it delivered a maximum power output of 232kW and maximum torque of 1,553Nm at 1,300rpm.
Bigger and heavier than the versatile 700 series, the 832 achieved 245 g/kWh of diesel and 30 g/kWh of Adblue when transporting loads.
Fendt has credited the tractor's performance in the DLG PowerMix test to the CORE80 engine, the VarioDrive CVT and the Fendt iD low-speed concept working together.
Combined, these technologies ensure high fuel efficiency across a wide range of applications.
