The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is inviting suckler beef producers to beef and lamb events aimed at strengthening herd performance and improving business.

‘Stronger Herds for Stronger Returns’ allows farmers to share experiences and explore how to adapt to changes in the industry by offering practical steps to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

Farmers will have the opportunity to sit in on expert panel discussions covering different aspects of farming life such as: cattle health; nutrition; and market insights.

The campaign will cover:

Improving suckler herd productivity and efficiency;
Supporting profitable and sustainable beef production;
Recognising the value of suckler beef across the supply chain;
Sharing practical guidance, technical knowledge, and industry insight;
Creating opportunities for farmers and stakeholders to learn, discuss, and collaborate.

Beef nutritionist David Hendy and Rebecca Moore of Carr Billington will discuss efficient feeding systems during various events around the country.

Events will also include in-depth discussions with experienced vets on identifying issues affecting herd performance.

Farmers will also get the chance to hear from farm walk hosts who will be sharing their experiences; systems and challenges.

There will also be opportunities for discussion and learning from fellow producers and technical experts.

Senior engagement manager, Elizabeth Swancott said: “Suckler beef has an important role in the wider beef supply chain.

“Bringing producers and experts together also gives everyone a chance to share experiences and learn from what’s working on other farms.”

Upcoming events will take place at the following locations:

October 20: North Yorkshire;
October 21: Cheshire;
October 29: Gloucestershire;
November 4: West Sussex.
