A survey launched this week aims to help farmers in Scotland communicate the issues they are facing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

NFU Scotland said many of its members had already been in touch over issues such as access, fly-tipping, labour and the supply chain.

The NFU Scotland Covid-19 survey can be found online here.

The union is keen to hear from all of those affected to make sure it continues to provide the most relevant information and support at all times.

The survey will allow the union to help others experiencing similar problems, and inform updates to its dedicated Covid-19 support page.

A spokesman for NFUS said: “It is important for the union to understand, not just the details of issues and incidents but also the frequency with which they are occurring.

The more information the union has, the more effective it can be in working for and representing the membership during this difficult time.

NFU Scotland’s Covid-19 webpages provide up-to-date news and farm-related information, a Question and Answer section, and a skills-matching page, which pairs Scottish growers to available workers.

With over 68,000 visits already, the Covid-19 webpages have proved to be a huge success and a vital source of information to Scotland’s farmers and crofters at this uncertain time.

NFU Scotland president Andrew McCornick said: “These are extremely challenging times for farmers and crofters who are having to get on with the day to day running of their businesses while the national situation is changing at a daily pace.

“That is why it is so important that NFU Scotland members take advantage of this survey provided and let us know the issues they are facing so that we can assist them and others who might be experiencing the same issues.”
