German machinery manufacturer Kotte Garant has begun the process of expanding its business into the UK market for its high-capacity slurry tankers, following an agreement with a British dealership.

Gloucestershire company Continental Soil Technology – which imports machinery from companies such as Bergmann, Kirpy and Krampe – has struck a deal with Kotte Garant.

This deal includes the importation of Kotte’s largest slurry tanker, the Taurus 2803 – a 650hp, six-wheel-drive spreader designed and created for large contractors shifting millions of tonnes of slurry and digestate.

The firm lists various advantages on its website for its Taurus 2803 tanker, saying: “It combines diversity with performance, drives easily on the road and brings large quantities of manure to the field.

“The SmartControl Professional V2T control panel and the SmartControl for iPad app enable efficient and convenient data and nutrient management,” according to Kotte.

The Taurus tanker has a 28,000L tank capacity and a 12,000L/min fast-filling pump.

The 2803 has an Allison automatic transmission with 12 forward and two reverse speeds. The tanker is powered by a Deutz V8 engine with a 15.98L capacity. Top speed is 40kph.

It is kitted out with Trelleborg 800/70 R32 TM3000 tyres, as well as LED lights and hydro-pneumatic suspension. It has a 10in-diameter loading arm.

In terms of dimensions, the Taurus is 12.8m long, 3m wide and 4m high. It weighs approximately 28t when empty, making it one of the biggest machines of its kind on the market.

The Kotte brand-name is not overly familiar to contractors here or even in the UK. As of yet, Kotte Taurus tankers have no agent or distributor here in Ireland.
