The latest figures from the Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association‘s (FTMTA) Statistics Service for July registrations of new tractors show a dramatic improvement over the June figures and confirm that the introduction of the new format 132 registration at the start of July was a factor in delaying a considerable number of registrations with customers holding on for the new registration.

According to the FTMTA, There were 225 new tractors registered during July which represents a 50 per cent increase on the same month in 2012 and is the highest monthly figure since January.

A total of 1,499 new tractors have been registered in the first seven months of this year, which is a decrease of 4 per cent on the same period last year.

The three counties with the highest levels of registrations during July were Meath, Kildare and Mayo with 17, 16 and 15 units respectively.

Cork, as is traditionally the case, is the county with the highest level of registrations for the year to date with 162 units registered.

Registrations of telescopic loaders also show a big increase for July with 17 units as against six in the same month of 2012. A total of 92 telescopic loaders have been registered during the first seven months of the year as against 92 in the same period of 2012 and 119 in all of 2012.
