Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society has launched its search for the next winner of its Long Service Award.

The award aims to award farm and estate workers from Pembrokeshire who have been employed for 25 years or more.

Those eligible for the award are urged to apply before the application closing date of Saturday, July 31, 2023.

The 2023 Long Service Awards presentation will be held in the President’s Pavilion at 4.00pm on August 16 at the Pembrokeshire County Show and the award recipient and guest will receive complimentary entry tickets to the show.

Conditions of eligibility for the 2023 award are:

  • The recipient must, on the first day of the Pembrokeshire County Show, have been in service for 25 years on the same farm continuously or continuously in the service of the same employers within Pembrokeshire;
  • The employer must be a member of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society for the present year.

There were six recipients for the award at last year’s county show including Paul McManamon; Geoffrey Davies; Anthony Vaughan; Richard Davies; John Race; and Michael Kurtz.

President of Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society, Brian Jones, said: “We are very much looking forward to receiving applications for this year’s Long Service Award.

“It gives us great pleasure as a society to reward those who have been employed for such a significant time by one employer in the county.

“We recognise what an achievement this is and it deserves an award. The decision of the committee will be final.”
