A fire in an agricultural building in Tintagel is believed to have been an incident of arson, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has said.

The fire, which occurred shortly after 6:00p.m yesterday (Wednesday, April 19), was located within a 10x10m agricultural building and involved straw bales and a trailer.

Because the fire is believed to be arson, Devon and Cornwall Police has been notified.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used two main jets to extinguish the fire, along with the help of a local farmer and their telehandler.

Appliances from Wadebridge, Bodmin and Delabole were mobilised and due to limited water supplies in the area, the water carrier from Wadebridge was also mobilised.

Dorset fire

Another agricultural fire was reported in Winterborne Stickland, Dorset, at the weekend by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue.

The fire broke out in a barn at 7:44p.m on Saturday (April 15) and saw crews from Blandford, Sturminster Newton and a water carrier crew from Poole mobilised.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus, one main jet and two hose-reel jets.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue also said that farm machinery was used to remove debris.
