Two HGV trailers carrying £115,000 worth of Guinness in over 800 barrels have been stolen in England.

Police in Cheshire are investigating the theft of the two trailers, which occurred at a depot in Runcorn, in the Liverpool City Region.

At around 7:45p.m on Monday (August 31), a lorry entered an industrial estate in the Aston Lane area of Runcorn.

The lorry was then connected to a HGV trailer containing barrels of Guinness before leaving the site at 7:55p.m.

Then at 9:12p.m, a second lorry arrived at the same site and was connected to another trailer also containing barrels of Guinness. This lorry left the site at around 9:30p.m, making off in a different direction to the first.

The total value of the stolen Guinness is estimated at £115,00. Including the trailers, the value of the theft comes to £205,000.

The trailers are described as white tri-axle curtain side trailers, and have unique ID numbers on their rear doors in the top left corner.

Both drivers of the lorries have been identified as men, police said, and officers are appealing for information, dashcam footage, or other video footage.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: "We have wasted no time in launching enquires to identify those responsible for the theft of £115,000 worth Guinness and the two trailers that housed the barrels. We will settle for nothing less than the full recovery of all the items stolen.

"As part of our investigation into…what has occurred, we are now appealing to anyone who has any information in relation to the theft to please come forward and speak to officers," the spokesperson added.

Police have called on any motorists who were driving in the area at the time of either incident to review any dashcam footage they have to see if they might have captured anything that could aid the investigation.
