Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC), the Welsh red meat levy body, has announced plans to host a series of webinars on topics from sheep fertility and liver fluke, to meat quality and a new Welsh Hill Index.

All of the topics are based on work carried out through HCC research and development programme as well as the Red Meat Development Programme.

The next in the series will take place on Monday, August 3 and will feature Stoc+ vet ambassador Tom Searle and sheep health specialist Kate Hovers.

The main topic of discussion will be sheep fertility, and during the webinar Tom will be giving a demonstration of a ram fertility examination and sharing best practice to get the most out of the rams.

The webinars will be hosted on the HCC Facebook page starting at 7:30pm and will be available afterwards on HCC’s website.

The seminar will involve a question and answer session where farmers and other interested individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions based on the subject discussed that evening by leaving a comment or sending a message.

John Richards, HCC industry development and relations manager, said: “These webinars are an opportunity for HCC to continue its engagement with stakeholders under the current restrictions.

It provides an opportunity for us to share advice on current on-farm activities, such as sheep fertility and liver fluke and to share some of the work that has been undertaken through our research and development portfolio and the Red Meat Development Programme.

“Each webinar will see a different guest including research students, industry experts as well as vets and farmers who are involved in our projects.”

The Red Meat Development Programme (RMDP) is supported by the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
