Machinery manufacturers Krone and Case IH picked up Red Dot Design Awards recently

Krone took the gong for its large square baler BiG Pack HDP II, and Case IH winning for its new Puma series tractor.   

According to Red Dot, its Design Award “is aimed at all those who would like to distinguish their business activities through design”.

It said: “The distinction is based on the principle of selection and presentation.

“Excellent design is selected by competent expert juries in the areas of product design, communication design, and design concepts.”

Krone: BiG Pack HDP II  

Krone’s large square baler BiG Pack HDP II 1290 (VC) received the Red Dot award in the product design category.

According to Berit Marzinzick, Krone head of marketing operations – responsible for designing products for Krone machines in Spelle, Germany: “The Red Dot Award confirms that we have managed to consistently combine functionality, technology and the visual appearance for our customers.”

Krone said that the design of the BiG Pack combines “a powerful, clearly structured frame with visible technical functionality”.

It said: “The distinctive two‑tone side panels clearly highlight the machine’s key functional areas.

“The design gives the baler a strong and purposeful appearance, while smooth surfaces emphasise its robust and precise build.”

Krone described the overall design as “concise and confident, clearly illustrating the functionality and brand identity”. 

Case IH Puma tractor

Case IH was recognised with the new Puma series tractor earning a Red Dot Product Design Award.

Eric Jacobsthal, industrial design operations manager, said: “Design at Case IH always starts with the operator and the job the machine has to do.

“The new Puma tractor shows how strong, confident design can also make a real difference in comfort, visibility and ease of use.

“This Red Dot award is a great recognition of how our design and engineering teams continue to work together to deliver tractors that customers are proud to own and enjoy operating every day.”

According to Case IH, its new Puma series tractor “combines bold Case IH family styling with a significantly enhanced cab environment designed to support long working days”.

It added: “Improvements include easier access, revised interior styling, increased storage and upgraded in-cab displays, all developed to enhance operator comfort, and everyday ease of use.”
