The National Sheep Association (NSA) is inviting Scottish sheep farmers and crofters to join a tour of British Wool’s Selkirk depot later this month.

The tour is part of the association’s annual regional member’s meeting (ARMM) for Scotland, which will take place in the Ettrick Riverside Business Centre, Dunsdale Road, Selkirk on Friday, February 2 at 1:30p.m.

The NSA said the tour will give sheep producers an “ideal opportunity” to ask questions and find out more about the current wool market and future marketing plans of British Wool to support the UK’s sheep sector.

The new £2.3 million depot was opened last summer with the aim of providing sheep producers in Scotland and north England with better access to deliver fleeces and help British Wool improve efficiencies in the grading and processing of wool.

Following the visit, NSA Scottish Region will conduct the formal business of election/re-election of its officeholders for the year ahead.

NSA Scottish Region coordinator Grace Reid said: “Our annual members’ meeting is a great opportunity to learn more from NSA Scotland officeholders and staff on recent NSA activity in Scotland over the past year.

“It will also be a chance for NSA members in Scotland to become more involved with their regional committee feeding into crucial Scottish and UK wide issues, including agricultural policy affecting the sector.

“New faces are always very welcome and the NSA Scotland committee looks forward to seeing some old and new faces for an informative and sociable day.”
