Agricultural machinery auctioneer, Cheffins, had its latest sale in Sutton, Cambridge (England), last week with an extensive range of tractors and machinery on offer.

Buyers were predominantly European, with multiple machines going to Spain and Ukraine, while some lots also went to Ireland – North and South – Bulgaria, Hungary and Cyprus among other destinations. Two lots also went to the United Arab Emirates.

Tractors and sprayers

The top price on the day was £43,800 (€49,525), which went for a 2012 John Deere 6125R tractor, equipped with a PowrQuad 50kph box, and 520/70/38 tyres. There were 2,050 hours on the clock. This tractor went to a buyer in Hungary.

The second-highest priced machine at the sale was a 2007 Bateman RB35 self-propelled sprayer, which sold for £43,500 (€49,185) and was purchased by an Irish buyer.

In third place (price-wise) was a 2012 John Deere 6210R tractor, with notable features such as an AutoPowr (50kph) transmission and front linkage. It was also AutoTrac-ready. With 9,293 hours on the clock, this tractor went for £39,800 (€45,002) to a buyer in Spain.

There was a big drop between the third and fourth-most expensive lot, with £29,500 (€33,356) fetching a 2004 John Deere 7920 tractor with 8,226 hours on the clock. The buyer was from Ukraine.

Another notable tractor at the auction was a 2010 Massey Ferguson 8690 Dyna-VT with 9,372 hours, which went for £29,000 (€32,790) to Spain also.

Diggers and telehandlers

JCBs were popular at the event with three machines going for good money. A 2008 3CX Sitemaster, with a manual gearbox, a 4-in-1 bucket, an extending dipper arm, 4WD, Smooth Ride System (SRS), and a quick hitch set-up, went to a United Arab Emirates buyer for £26,500 (€29,964).

Another JCB 3CX Sitemaster turbo (manual) also went to the United Arab Emirates for a slightly lower figure of £24,400 (€27,589).

The last JCB, this time a 2009 JCB 526-56 agri telehandler, came across the Irish Sea to a buyer in Northern Ireland for £16,200 (€18,317).

Another telehandler, a 2012 Merlo 34.7, made £16,200 (€18,317) and went to a Ukrainian purchaser.

Implements and other items

Implements were in the lower price categories, with £4,400 (€4,975) being the buying price, both for a Marston 14t tipping trailer – which went to Bulgaria – and a John Deere 578 baler which went to Cyprus.

Finally, a 2014 John Deere 855 Gator utility vehicle went to an undisclosed location for £7,500 (€8,480).
