Cattle are suspected to have trampled a man and his dog to death on a farm in Sussex on Monday.

The bodies of a man and a dog were found in a field on farmland in Priory Road, Forest Row, at 1:45pm on October 8.

A police spokesman said the deaths of the 67-year-old and his dog are not being treated as suspicious.

The circumstances are being investigated and the coroner’s office is dealing with the deaths.

Sussex farmer

It follows just a few months after cattle trampled a farmer in the same county.

It is believed the man, named locally as 64-year-old Stephen Sandys, had been feeding his cattle at the time of the incident.

Sandys’ wife is understood to have raised the alarm on Friday evening (August 10) after he failed to pick her up from the train station.

The bull was put down, however, Mr. Sandys had already passed away by the time he was found in the field.
