A tractor carrying 20 unstrapped bales on a trailer was stopped by Staffordshire Roads Policing Unit yesterday (Thursday, December 29).

Sharing the image of the tractor and trailer on Twitter, the policing unit said it assisted the Staffordshire Police response team in the incident.

The tractor was pulled over in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, with the road policing unit adding that the police were “rightly concerned” over the security of the bales.

“20 bales. Totally unsecured. Driver had the straps on board but hadn’t used them,” the unit said.

It is not yet known what consequences were faced by the driver of the tractor.

In other tractor related news, three people were left in need of hospital treatment after a collision between a tractor and a car in Glasgow on Wednesday night (December 28).

The three occupants of the car were the ones who required treatment. The driver of the tractor was not injured in the incident.

“The 23-year-old male driver of the car has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

The Twitter account for Road Policing Scotland said the man had been reported for disqualified driving, no insurance, and careless driving following the incident.

“The driver of the car caused the crash by driving carelessly, whilst disqualified and with no insurance,” Road Policing Scotland said in the post.

“Unbelievably only minor injuries! (He has been) charged and reported.”
