Pottinger hails from a hilly country, so ensuring their equipment is as safe as possible to operate on slopes is, naturally, a focus of its design engineers.
The Austrian company notes that its Top VT 12540 four-rotor rake caters for inclines without detracting from performance.
They have now updated it with the option of the Profiline comfort control system, which adds various functions to its operation.
The addition brings several new operating modes to the machine, starting with what is called ‘direct mode’.
This function makes it easy to lift any rotor unit individually with a touch of the display screen, allowing obstacles in the field to be avoided.
Pottinger covers all areas
There is also a ‘wedge-shaped swath’ mode for odd-shaped fields. In this mode, when a front rotor is lifted or lowered, the respective rear rotor follows as soon as it reaches the same point to allow for awkward corners.
The raking height of all four rotors can also be adjusted, either together or individually, from the tractor cab as an option.
This ability extends to section control, enabling the rotors to be lifted in sequence at the headlands.
In addition, an overlap control moves the front rotor on the inside of the corner inwards automatically, which is returnsed once on the straight again. This should ensure sufficient overlap with the rear rotor at all times.
Transformation for transport
Transitioning from working mode to transport mode is a matter of pushing one button, whereupon the machine automatically retracts from the working width, folds in the rotors, and locks them securely in place.
Pottinger Top VT rakes are supplied with the Basicline preselect system as standard. This is operated using two double-acting spool valves and the Basic control terminal.
The additional Profiline comfort control system will require a tractor with load sensing or power beyond hydraulics and an ISOBUS tractor terminal.
