A British woman is set to embark on a 10-day journey throughout the UK, with a goal of milking 10,000 cows to raise funds for charity.

Marie Stephenson felt compelled to help farmers after she saw how tough a year 2025 was for them, so she decided upon a huge dairy challenge.

Based near Carnforth in Lancashire, Maria is no stranger to milking parlours, having accumulated plenty of experience in the past.

She said: “We had our own dairy farm up to 2007 and since then I have relief milked on a number of other farms.”

Charity

Marie, who is also head of feed additives at Trident Micro Nutri, starts her journey on August 1, to raise funds in support of farmers’ charity, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

Her journey will start in the north of the UK in Scotland, and will take her right down to the south of England, visiting as many dairy farms as she can on the way.

She said: “After such a tough year in agriculture, especially in my local community where the strains of life have shown themselves in the most severe ways, I felt compelled to take action.

“Farmers work tirelessly, often facing exhaustion and isolation. Yet, amidst the challenges, a simple chat and a laugh can brighten even the darkest of days.

“With this in mind, I have set myself an ambitious challenge to milk 10,000 cows in 10 days from Scotland to southern England.”

RABI

RABI is a support charity dedicated to helping farmers in need, and includes not only practical assistance but free counselling.

Marie added: “Farmers deliver an essential service by producing food for our nation.

“However, their journey can be isolating and challenging, even after retirement.

“RABI’s grant programmes and emergency support help individuals navigate through crises with compassion and care,” she said.
