Dairy farmers across the UK are being called on to take part in virtual workshops that are designed to help shape a more sustainable future for the dairy industry.
The online workshops are part of the Dairy Roadmap, which is a sector-wide initiative that focuses on “continuous environmental improvement across the dairy supply chain”.
The workshops will be an opportunity for dairy farmers to come together and collaborate on the next stage of the Roadmap’s development, which is called the Sustainable Dairy Pathways Report.
The report aims “to be farmer-led and owned by the sector, allowing the entire dairy value chain to identify the costs of achieving sustainability and how they can be addressed over the long-term.”
Workshops
The dairy initiative stated: “These online workshops offer farmers a direct opportunity to influence how the industry tackles the challenges and opportunities of sustainability.
“Their input will help determine how future targets are set and how environmental, social, and economic progress can be achieved across the UK dairy sector.”
The online sessions will cover the following key themes:
- Supporting net zero ambitions through practical, on-farm actions;
- Encouraging nature-positive farming and improved biodiversity;
- Reducing waste and emissions across the supply chain;
- Promoting economic resilience and fair value for farmers;
- Strengthening the connection between sustainability and profitability.
The workshops are set to take place on Thursday, November 21 and Monday, November 25, running from 12:00pm to 1:30pm on both days.
Farmers can register for the workshops on the Dairy Roadmap’s website,

The chair of the Dairy Roadmap, Bas Padberg commented: “The Dairy Roadmap has always been about collaboration, and we need farmers’ experience, ideas and insight to shape realistic and effective sustainability goals.
“This is a genuine chance for farmers to shape the outcome of the new Sustainable Pathways Report, which in turn shape the future of our industry.
“It’s vital that the Roadmap reflects the realities of dairy farming – both the challenges and the innovation that’s happening every day on the farm.”
