With a 75% sale rate, the tractor section achieved a total of £295,742 – with modern classics from the 1980s and 1990s achieving “strong prices across the board”. A significant number of Irish bidders registered for the event.

Among the notable sales was a 1989 Ford 7810 tractor with only 1,710 hours, which sold for £15,500.

Bill King, Chairman, Cheffins commented: “Our 20th year at Harrogate saw some of the strongest trade we have seen at this event for some years, with modern classic tractors drawing interest from many buyers.

“These tractors from the ’80s and ’90s are popular with the next generation of collectors – those in their 40s and 50s who remember these machines from their youth.

“We registered over 450 new buyers on the day. We are looking forward to coming back to Harrogate in 2018 and we hope that our 21st year at the Great Yorkshire Showground will be even bigger and better than this year’s sale.”
