Quality lamb from Scotland will have a high profile at the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2018, when Scotch Lamb PGI will feature in the line-up of sponsors.

Scotch Lamb will be sponsoring the Environment Award at the event which is being held at the Scottish Event Campus on St Andrews Day, November 30, 2018.

Described as the biggest celebration of young people in Scotland, the awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of inspirational young people across Scotland.

The Environment Award will go to a young person or group who is passionate about green issues and determined to make a positive difference.

The awards, which are in their 13th year, are part of a national programme of celebrations for the Year of Young People 2018.

People across Scotland are being asked to nominate outstanding young people aged between 11 and 26 years old in their community.

Jennifer Robertson, health and education manager at QMS, said: “Each year we are amazed by the positive achievements of Scotland’s young people and to be able to celebrate with them is incredible.

“We look forward to commending this year’s nominees who are making a positive impact on their communities.”

Environmental production

QMS undertakes a range of activities to encourage awareness of the positive environmental role of livestock production in Scotland.

Around 85% of Scotland’s agricultural area is made up of land which is unsuitable for growing cereals or vegetables but ideal for the production of top quality Scotch Lamb.

Sheep farming also provides a key source of jobs in many more fragile parts of Scotland as well as making an important contribution to biodiversity and land management throughout the country.
