Red meat and dairy from the UK will take centre stage this month at one of the world’s largest food and beverage trade shows called Gulfood, which is held in Dubai.

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is returning to Gulfood and will be joined by a record 16 exporters, who will showcase their products to thousands of potential buyers from around the world.

Gulfood, which runs from February 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, attracts thousands of visitors every year and this year, more than 4,000 companies are expected to exhibit in the 21 halls of food exploration.

AHDB’s red meat stand, which is shared this year with Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC), will host ten red meat exporters from England and Wales, who will be exhibiting their lamb and beef.

AHDB’s dairy stand will also include six dairy exporters showcasing their cheese to attendees.

Visitors to both stands will get the opportunity to sample UK products and also learn how to make the most of their halal lamb with a butchery demonstration by AHDB’s Master Butcher Martin Eccles.

AHDB seniorhalal sector manager, Awal Fuseini, who will attend the trade show, said: “The opportunities that Gulfood presents for our red meat and dairy exporters cannot be overstated.

“The event not only provides a chance to showcase the UK’s high-quality red meat and dairy products, but it also gives our exporters the chance to meet with key importers and make valuable connections across the region.

“Gulfood carries increased global significance for British food producers.

“We know there is a huge opportunity in the Middle East market for our products and Gulfood is the perfect platform to embrace that opportunity.”

AHDB’s senior export manager for dairy, Lucy Randolph, added:

“We are delighted to be returning to Gulfood, which has been growing in popularity, becoming a hugely important trade show for our dairy exporters in the UK.

“Now more than ever, we need to support our exporters by facilitating those important relationships and face-to-face meetings needed for doing business around the world.”
