The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has confirmed a new board member.
DAERA has appointed Dr. Scott King as a non-executive board member to the departmental board.
His appointment is for a period of three years effective from March 1, 2026.
King is a chartered engineer and chartered director with more than 20 years’ experience working across public, private and academic sectors.
He is a fellow of both the Institute of Directors and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
He currently holds a number of private and public sector board and advisory roles focused on governance, economic development, and return of investment.
He is a Department for Education School Governor at Lagan College Belfast, a member of the Utility Regulators Independent Expert Advisory Panel, and a Harbour Commissioner at Foyle Port.
Council for Nature Conservation
Meanwhile, DAERA is seeking to appoint a chair and up to 18 members to the Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside (CNCC).
The CNCC is a statutory adviser to DAERA on matters affecting nature conservation and the countryside.
It also offers advice to other government departments on matters relevant to its remit.
DAERA said the appointments will be for a period of three years, subject to satisfactory performance. An additional two-year term may be considered.
The chair role requires a time commitment of approximately 48 days per annum.
This position is paid at £11,033 per annum, which is under review.
The member positions are unpaid and require approximately 18 days per annum.
DAERA said that completed applications must be returned to the department by noon on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
