Food company Pilgrim’s Europe has launched a new legacy fund to support charities and community organisations local to its sites across the island of Ireland.

Applications are now open and organisations can apply for up to €6,000 (£5,000) in funding to support local initiatives.

With the aim of helping to make a positive difference and providing meaningful support to local communities, the fund is open to a wide range of applicants, ranging from community and voluntary organisations to educational, cultural, environmental, and youth initiatives. 

The legacy fund builds on Pilgrim’s Europe’s wider commitment to supporting communities surrounding its sites.

Throughout the year, colleagues across the business volunteer their time, raise funds and support local causes.

This is done alongside the company’s established partnerships with GroceryAid and Ronald McDonald House.

Pilgrim’s Europe also works in partnership with local farmers through its poultry, pork, lamb and beef supply chains.

Legacy fund

Chief people officer at Pilgrim’s Europe, Kirsty Wilkins said: “In the communities where our colleagues live across the country, we want our legacy fund to support organisations that understand the needs of their area and are working to make a genuine difference.

“There are so many charities, community groups and other organisations doing great work, and we’d love to hear from them.

“We are looking forward to hearing more about the ideas, people and organisations making a positive contribution to our communities.”

The company employs over 17,000 team members across more than 40 sites in the UK, Ireland, France and The Netherlands.

Brands include Denny, Galtee, Moy Park, Richmond, Fridge Raiders, Rollover, and Oakhouse.
