Strengthening the relationship between the farming and forestry sectors will be one of the key themes at the launch of the UK Forest Market Report 2025.
The report is published annually by Tihill Forestry, and Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group, providing an overview of forestry transactions and investment trends across the UK,
This year’s report will be previewed at two upcoming launch events this month, where guest speakers will provide insights to farmers and landowners on how creating woodlands on their land can provide a sustainable income source for them, while also enhancing biodiversity and improving soil health.
Forestry
Xander Mahony, who is the head of forestry management at Tihill, commented: “Forestry and farming can be uncomfortable bedfellows in the rural space; however, there are more pressing shared challenges than the tussles between us.
“Common uncertainties include government policy, product prices, cost inflation, and changing weather patterns.
“In the face of climate and economic drivers, we need collaborative long-term planning.”
Jon Lambert, partner at Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group, said: “All property assets, whether forestry, farms, commercial buildings or roads and infrastructure have something in common – land.
“All land users – owners, occupiers, managers – must be accountable custodians; we always need to work together to find a synergy and ensure this extraordinary asset is appropriately stewarded.”
