Amazone has added to its range of Catros disc harrows with the introduction of the  6003-2TS Special, which is said to offer all the same advantages of the existing models in the Catros family.

Amazone suggests that the Special is ideal for shallow soil tillage, with a working depth of as little as 5cm and down to 14cm enabling the incorporation of larger quantities of organic matter.

This latest set of discs is billed as having a simple yet robust frame concept, which – due to a new weight optimisation design – means the compact disc harrow achieves an axle load of less than 3.5 t in each configuration.

As a result, there is no need for a braking system, enabling EU type approval for this model without the added expense and complexity.

Budget-conscious Amazone

The machine is offered in a fixed basic configuration with a Category 3 lower linkage, full hydraulic working depth adjustment, and 510mm coarse serrated discs.

The roller can be individually selected from a compiled range to suit all soil types and conditions.

The Catros Special features the comfortable Smart Frame System, a concept that allows the working depth to be adjusted hydraulically whilst on the move.

This is done by simply rotating the disc carrier arms. When the working depth is increased, the discs are turned away from the main frame, which increases the distance between the rows of discs, the frame, and the packer roller.

Bogey positions

Amazone have taken a refreshing approach as to what to do with the bogey when in the field, giving the operator two options to choose from.

The first option is to fold up the bogey and over the discs to place the weight above the working components of the implement, giving greater ground penetration by doing so.

The second is to leave the bogey suspended behind the machine at 0.5m above the ground, which, Amazone assure us, ensures an optimum balance that – in conjunction with the hydraulic shock absorption system – enables much smoother running at speeds of up to 18kph.

The Catros+ 6003-2TS Special also features sealed disc bearings, eliminating the need for regular lubrication and resulting in significantly reduced overall maintenance time.

Individual disc suspension is via elastic rubber sprung elements, which is claimed to ensure optimal ground contour adaptation whilst enabling the through-passage of large quantities of organic matter.
