Two renowned Welsh brands have recently collaborated to create a premium range of salted butter.

The popular family-run Castle Dairies butter producers have teamed up with renowned Halen Môn sea salt producers to create the salted butter.

The products are made using 100% British ingredients sourced using the Red Tractor food standard scheme,.

In addition, the butter is also made without the use of any additives, colourings, or preservatives.

The new product is churned by Castle Dairies in Caerphilly, just outside Cardiff, and hand salted using Halen Môn’s product from the Anglesey waters.

The companies

Castle Dairies was originally established in 1966 as a milk bottling company, before switching focus to butter in the 1970s.

John Lloyd bought the company in 1986, before his son Nigel took over in 2000 after John’s retirement.

Castle Dairies brand manager, Rebecca Ross said: “At Castle Dairies, we’re passionate about crafting real butter the traditional way – using established and respected methods passed down through generations.

“We’re committed to using only the finest, natural, British ingredients, all responsibly sourced from trusted UK suppliers who share our values around sustainability and ethical farming.

“Partnering with Halen Môn is a natural fit – bringing together two artisan brands with a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and delivering something truly special to delight our customers”.

Halen Môn was co-founded by Alison and David Lea-Wilson in 1996 off the back of their previous local oyster business.

Since then, they have built a global market for the sea salt they produce on Anglesey island.

Halen Môn brand director Jessica Lea-Wilson said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Castle Dairies on their delicious new range with a pinch of Halen Môn.

“Castle Dairies shares our commitment to high quality and great taste – we couldn’t be more pleased to be adding a pinch of our hand-harvested sea salt to their latest products.

“Every product bearing our logo is a celebration of quality and these new Castle Dairies’ products are no exception.”

The companies announced the product is available in block and spreadable form from Waitrose and partner stores.
