The Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) have confirmed they are investigating the alleged theft of cattle from near Newtownhamilton, Co. Armagh over the weekend.

A PSNI spokesperson told Agriland: “Police in Newtownhamilton are investigating a report of cattle theft from a field on MacCullagh Road, Newtownhamilton.

“The theft is reported to have occurred sometime between 8:00p.m on Saturday, May 23, and the evening of May 25.”

Anyone with information that might assist in this investigation is urged to contact PSNI, quoting “reference 908 of 28/05/2026”.

Equipment theft

Separately, PSNI also recently reported the theft of a water drinker from a farm in Newry, Co. Down.

PSNI stated that the theft occurred sometime between 5:30p.m on Thursday, May 21 and 9:30a.m on Saturday, May 23 on the Ferryhill Road near Newry.

According to PSNI, the suspect reportedly gained access to the field by “ramming the galvanised gates”, with the water drinker being subsequently stolen.

Police highlighted that the drinker “is a distinctive item” due to the fact that “it has two quad tyres” attached to the bottom.

Officers have appealed for information regarding any sightings or the whereabouts of the drinker, urging the public to contact them by dialling 101.

PSNI

Additionally, PSNI recently attended an incident where a slurry tanker overturned on a roundabout in Co. Armagh.

The “damage-only road traffic collision” involved a tractor that was towing a slurry tanker on the Stonebridge roundabout on May 13, according to PSNI.

Officers at the scene stated that the slurry tanker “went on its side at the roundabout”, which links Dobbin Road and Portadown Road.

PSNI noted that “enquiries remain ongoing at this time.”

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart alerted her constituents regarding the overturned slurry tanker, advising them to steer clear of the roundabout shortly after the incident.

She confirmed police and recovery services attended the scene yesterday and warned motorists of delays.
