A strategic cereal farm results webinar hosted by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) will focus on using data to improve efficiency and yield.

The virtual event will take place on Tuesday, November 7, from 12:30p.m until 2:00p.m.

Izzy Eames and Joe Martlew from AHDB’s cereals and oilseeds branch will discuss the latest results from the strategic cereal farm network on how to use data to improve efficiency and yield.

The webinar’s presentations will feature guests and results from different AHDB strategic cereal farms.

Susie Roques from the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service (ADAS), and host farmer David Blacker will present the results of the strategic cereal farm north analysis project, which investigated the value and application of historical farm data.

David Clarke of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB) will present the results of the strategic farm south and east yield map analysis projects on how to use yield maps to make better decisions.

Steve Hoad of Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and host farmer David Algen will present the results of strategic cereal farm Scotland’s crop nutrition project.

This project investigated using different nitrogen measurements to improve in-season fertiliser management.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A with participants.

“Making the most of farm data collected each season can seem a challenge. However, improving our understanding of how to interpret and put data to work can improve farming systems,” AHDB said.
