This eye-catching image (see above) depicts a Case IH Magnum tractor with a Krone wagon in tow side-filling from another Krone machine – a BiG X forager.

What’s most noteworthy about this particular tractor is that it’s finished in a ‘Krone‘ colour scheme.

It’s not unusual – especially on the continent – to see tractors donning alternative paint-jobs, but this must be the first occasion we’ve seen a tractor ‘colour-coded’ to match the Krone forager that it’s running alongside.

The footage is from Agro HD – Photography – an entity specialising in agricultural content. It started out as a group of photographers and friends with a shared enthusiasm for all things agricultural.

For record, the tractor is a Magnum 315; the wagon is a ZX 400 GL. The harvester is a BiG X 530, complete with an EasyFlow 300 S pick-up.

On a ‘winning streak’

Of course, Case IH’s corporate HQ might not heartily approve of such colour changes; the wider CNH family, of course, offers its own silage harvesting equipment.

In any case (no pun intended), it has been a busy time for the brand.

Case IH has just picked up several major awards, including two Foglia d’Oro (gold prize for innovation) gongs at Fieragricola 2018 for its AFS AccuTurn automated headland turning system and the new Maxxum Multicontroller with ActiveDrive 8 semi-powershift transmission.

The Case IH AccuTurn system automates headland turning – taking control of steering on headlands to guide the tractor into the next chosen pass.

This, says Case IH, improves driver comfort when performing repetitive tasks during long working days.

Building on the company’s existing AccuGuide auto-steering system, AccuTurn is designed to steer the machine “as accurately during headland turns as in the rest of the field”. It apparently works with both trailed and mounted implements; it allows adjustment of parameters such as headland width, curve shape when turning and turn starting point.

The distance to the start of the turn is shown on the AFS terminal screen. The AccuTurn system takes over once the HMC II headland management control system has raised the implement out of work and disengaged the tractor’s 4WD system.
