Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has confirmed its officers remain on site of a fire on a farm near Fraserburgh in Scotland this morning (Tuesday), April 15, after working overnight to curtail the blaze.

The fire service’s operations control unit received reports of a fire on Philorth Farm at 4:22pm yesterday (April 14), which reportedly involved two “large” farm buildings.

According to a SFRS spokesperson, six fire brigades were dispensed to tackle the blaze, three of which remain on site this morning.

No casualties or injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, authorities said.

The spokesperson said that firefighters worked throughout the night to curb the fire while locals of the area were urged to remain indoors with windows closed as a “precaution”.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.22pm on Monday, 14 April, to reports of a fire on Philorth Farm, near Fraserburgh.

“Three fire appliances currently remain in attendance to dampen down any remaining hotspots.

“At its height, operations control mobilised six fire appliances and specialist resources to the scene, where firefighters worked overnight to extinguish a fire affecting two large farm buildings.

“As a precaution, local residents are being asked to close windows and doors if they are affected by smoke. There are no reported casualties.”

Meanwhile, Coatbridge firefighters in Lanarkshire, Scotland have launched their annual Easter egg appeal and have urged members of the public to donate to the cause.

Working alongside local charities and community groups, the station hopes to collect hundreds of Easter eggs to distribute to those most in need this Easter.

Last year, over 500 boxes of chocolate treats were collected and delivered to various organisations throughout Lanarkshire by the firefighters, which they said was thanks to the “overwhelming” support from the public.

Area Commander and SFRS local senior officer for Lanarkshire, Jim Quinn said: “We were blown away by the kindness of the community last year.

“This appeal is about more than just chocolate – it’s about showing kids that their community cares. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.”

Donations can be handed into Coatbridge Community Fire Station or dropped off at local fire stations across Lanarkshire.

The final day for donations is Thursday, April 17.
