The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have appealed for information to help further their investigation into the theft of approximately 47 cattle in Co. Armagh.
As reported by Agriland on Tuesday (June 2), PSNI confirmed that they were investigating the suspected theft of cattle from a field in the south Co. Armagh area.
Police outlined that the 47 cattle were last seen in a field on the Macullagh Road, Newtownhamilton between 6:00p.m and 8:00p.m on Friday, May 23.
The farmer discovered that his herd were missing on Monday, May 25, according to PSNI.
Officers noted that the stolen cattle were of mixed colours, with all of them carrying official identification tags.
Appeal
In a social media post, PSNI appealed to hear from anyone who may have:
- Observed vehicles travelling during the late evening or early morning hours on rural roads;
- CCTV, dashcam, doorbell, or other footage that may assist enquiries;
- Information regarding the whereabouts of the cattle or those responsible for their theft;
- Information of cattle being offered for sale in suspicious circumstances.
PSNI stated: “Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting the reference number CC2026052800908, or submit information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
“Even the smallest piece of information could assist our investigation.”

Separately, PSNI confirmed last week that an investigation is underway into the theft of a water drinker from a farm in Newry, Co. Down.
Officer stated that the theft occurred sometime between 5:30p.m on Thursday, May 21 and 9:30a.m on Saturday, May 23 on the Ferryhill Road near Newry.
According to PSNI, the suspect reportedly gained access to the field by “ramming the galvanised gates”, with the water drinker being subsequently stolen.
Police highlighted that the drinker “is a distinctive item” due to the fact that “it has two quad tyres” attached to the bottom.
PSNI appealed for information regarding any sightings or the whereabouts of the drinker, urging the public to contact them by dialling 101.
