The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is appealing for information regarding the suspected theft of a trailer in Co. Armagh.

Police believe the theft occurred some time between 11:00p.m on Monday, March 9 and 6:00a.m on Tuesday, March 10 on the Newry Road area of Newtownhamilton.

The missing trailer has been described as a Nugent Dropside (8ftx4ft) trailer.

Officers highlighted that there is a distinctive chequered plate toolbox attached to the front A-frame of the trailer.

PSNI has asked for any sightings of the missing trailer or any information that may be of assistance to be reported by calling 101 and quoting the reference number 201 of 10/03/26.

Property marking

PSNI has previously advised farmers to consider marking their trailers with an unique identification number, which can be traced back to the registered owners.

Several property marking events were organised across Northern Ireland by police officers last month.

In the Republic of Ireland, An Garda Síochána are set to host two property marking events this weekend on Saturday, March 14.

Gardaí in Co. Meath will be attending the Trim GAA grounds to mark property items between 10:00a.m and 12:00p.m on the day, while another marking event will be held from 12:00p.m and 4:00p.m at St. Brigid’s GAA grounds in Killashee, Co. Longford.

Heating oil theft

Meanwhile, police officers in Fermanagh and Omagh have urged homeowners to stay vigilant following recent reports of oil thefts across the district.

In a social media post, PSNI listed the following security tips to avoid home heating oil thefts:

  • Lock It – Use high-quality, closed-shackle padlocks on tank caps;
  • Light It – Install motion-sensor security lighting around your tank;
  • Hide It – Long-term, use fencing or prickly hedging to keep your tank out of sight from the road;
  • Alarm It – Consider a remote oil-level alarm that alerts your phone if levels drop suddenly.

PSNI stated: “Report any suspicious vehicles or activity in your area to us immediately via 101 or indeed, via 999 if the crime is in progress.”
