The Aberdeen Angus Association of Romania is set to host the European Angus Forum (EAF) 2026 next week.
Described by the organisers as “the most prestigious event dedicated to Aberdeen Angus cattle breeders in Europe,” it aims to bring together Angus breeders as well as farmers and industry experts from across Europe and further afield.
The forum aims to provide a platform for discussion and allow opportunities for collaboration on “the future of sustainable beef production, advancements in genetics, and the development of premium beef markets”.
According to the Aberdeen Angus Association of Romania, there are over over 135,600 Aberdeen Angus cattle and approximately 1,920 breeders in the country.
Romania has approximately 4.8 million hectares of permanent grasslands, which “play an important role not only in food production but also in maintaining biodiversity, supporting rural communities and preserving traditional agricultural
landscapes”.
During the forum, participants will have the opportunity to visit farms and processing units that are part of Angus beef production systems in Romania.
EAF 2026 will begin in Cluj-Napoca, a city in the Transylvania region of Romania on May 11 and conclude in Bucharest on May 18.
According to the organisers, international participants from Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, South America, and North America will visit:
- Breeding farms and finishing units;
- Bull testing stations and state-of-the-art slaughterhouses;
- Livestock exhibitions showcasing genetic lines developed in Romania.
The international Conference for the European Angus Forum 2026 will take place at the Novotel, Bucharest, on Sunday, May 17.
The Aberdeen Angus Association Romania was established in December 2012.
The association was founded with the objective of “implementing a specialised management system for Aberdeen Angus cattle in Romania, aimed at monitoring and improving the breed at national level.”
